HELP SAVE CAMBRIDGE !!!!!!

Channel 5 Reported that Cambridge is Removing the Parking from Mass Ave- the link is at the end of this e-mail

  • 95% of the parking is being removed from Mass Ave if the MBTA wires stay up
  • 50-60% of curb use will be removed even If the wires come down, and the median is removed
  • What remains will be shared between loading zones, bus stops, crosswalks, outdoor dining, and parking
  • The plan is projected to cost $55 million dollars for 2.5 miles of road and has no definite timeline for the MBTA wires to be removed.
We need to get more Public Awareness
  • The city isn’t listening, even with our e-mails, even with our petition with almost 1200 names!
  • Signs just went up in Porter Square marking parking meters to be removed from Mass Ave.
  • The City Council just admitted that only 8% of people in Cambridge commute by bike, we need roads that work for all – not just 8%

Please report the City of Cambridge is removing virtually all parking on Mass Ave from Dudley Street to Harvard Square to install a vertically separated bike lane. The project will cost over $55 million dollars for approximately 2.5 miles of road.  This plan will remove 95% of parking on Mass Ave if the MBTA Catenary wires remain in place and there is no definite plan or timeline to have them taken down. Even with the wires down and $55 million dollars spent, only 40 – 50% of curb use will remain to be shared between loading zones, bus stops, crosswalks, outdoor dining, and parking.  Small businesses, already hurt by the pandemic and the lock downs will be forced to close or move.  Parking Meters in Porter Square have just been tagged by the city to be removed. A report on this story can be found here:
